Classical Pilates · Vista, California · Worldwide online

Pilates that gives you your body back.

Jamie Isaac has spent more than two decades teaching classical Pilates — to people rebuilding after injury, to athletes chasing another season, and to the teachers who now teach it themselves. Sessions run online from anywhere, or in person in North San Diego County.

Small numbers, close attention. Every session is taught by Jamie himself.

Work with Jamie

Three ways in, depending on where you are.

Some people arrive wanting to move without pain. Some arrive as teachers who want to be better ones. Some arrive because their sport has started asking more of their body than it can give. All three are welcome.

Pilates for athletes & surfers

Strong is not the same as available.

Most athletes are not short of strength. They are short of the range, the control and the breath to use the strength they already have — and that is usually where the injuries come from.

Classical Pilates is unusually good at this. It works the deep, unglamorous connections that hold a shoulder in place through a paddle-out or keep a hip honest through mile twenty. The results tend to show up as fewer niggles, longer seasons and a body that recovers rather than accumulates.

Jamie's athletic and myofascial work is taught in person, online, and through his programmes on Pilates Anytime, where surfers in particular have found it. If you coach, he will happily build something your squad can keep using once the sessions end.

About Jamie

A teacher of teachers, still teaching.

Jamie Isaac trained in the classical method and traces his teaching line back through Lolita San Miguel to Joseph Pilates himself. He has taught in studios, at conferences and on retreats across California, the UK, Fuerteventura, Bali and Costa Rica, and his work has appeared on Pilates Anytime and in PilatesStyle Magazine.

What clients tend to mention first, though, is none of that. It is the attention. Jamie watches closely, explains plainly, and adjusts the work to the person in front of him rather than the other way round.

He also looks after the machines. Studios across the region bring him in for safety checks, servicing and repairs on their apparatus — because equipment that is quietly out of true makes everyone's teaching harder.
